Building Humanity
Bill Hybels sat down with President Carter this spring in Atlanta, and with incredible graciousness, Carter offered his thoughts about the issue he says threatens our society’s health more than any other: the growing chasm between the rich and the poor. This session will feature that videocast interview, entitled Building Humanity.

Next Steps
Process Question for Teams:
Growing up in rural Georgia, President Carter was exposed to blatant racism from an early age, but he has made it a mission to try to eradicate that discrimination in our society. Churches remain some of the most segregated places that exist in the US and the world. What is your church or ministry doing to help address the issue of racial reconciliation?
Process Question for Individuals:
President Carter explained that he never changed his character or basic approach to life as he transitioned from role to role in his business and political career, but he did commit to learning as much as he could as he prepared for his most important role as president. On your own, think about your transition into your current leadership role and answer the following questions: What intentional steps did you take to prepare for the role, and how did they help you succeed? What do you wish you would have done differently? Is there something that you can commit to do differently in the future?
For more processing questions like these, reserve your copy of The Leadership Summit 2007 Team Edition on DVD.
Bonus
To explore concrete ways that your church can respond more effectively to the problem of poverty and the gap between the rich and the poor, register to attend the Global AIDS and Poverty Forum this October.

Gary worked for 28 years in the marketplace before leaving its financial benefits 11 years ago to work in ministry fulltime. Since then he has been opening doors and resourcing countries around the world as the executive vice president for WCA International. He lives what he believes with passion and with energy that never quits. That's exactly the power that Dave shares in his latest book, The Big Idea. Dave knows that churches can bombard people with so many little ideas that they can miss the big idea. Many church leaders can't stop talking about how this book has changed their outlook and is beginning to make a difference in their churches. You can learn more about Dave, Community Christian Church (where he is the senior pastor), or New Thing (a network for church planting and multi-site churches) on his blog Velocity.Read More >Posted at Saturday, August 11, 2007 7:13:00 PM   Comments (3) Email This Craig Groeschel Responds to Session 9from Kristen AikmanI had a chance to visit Craig Groeschel's church, LifeChurch.tv, last year before his talk at the A2 Conference. When I met Craig, I was struck by how passionate and focused he was. His willingness to take risks and try new things in sharing the gospel was unbelievable. It felt like he would literally do anything to help somebody know Jesus, even risking what other people thought of him.
